Tammy Ryan's plays have been performed across the United States and internationally. She was awarded the Francesca Primus Prize by the American Theater Critics Association for her play Lost Boy Found in Whole Foods (Premiere Stages/Playwrights Theater of New Jersey). Other plays include: The Wake (2019 Premiere Stages Play Festival winner) Molly’s Hammer (Repertory Theater of St. Louis), Tar Beach (Luna Stage, Kilroy’s List), Soldier’s Heart, (Pittsburgh Playhouse), Baby's Blues (NCPA, Mumbai) Pig (29th Street Rep) S/he: Lindsay’s Oyster (Kitchen Theater, Garag Istanbul) and The Music Lesson (Florida Stage/American Alliance of Theater in Education Distinguished New Play Award/Carbonell Award.) A New Kind of Fallout written with composer Gilda Lyons premiered at Opera Theater of Pittsburgh in 2015. Her work has been developed and supported by the Ignite Festival, National New Play Network, New Harmony Project, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Sewanee Writers Conference, The Heinz Endowment, The Pittsburgh Foundation and Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council. Tammy is a long time member of the Dramatists Guild of America and is on faculty with DG Institute's Plays in Progress. She is honored to be a resident playwright of New Dramatists class of 2025.
