Edwin Rivera-Arias (he/him) is a Latino playwright and fiction writer who was born and raised in Bayonne, New Jersey. He received a 2024 Prose Fellowship from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, and a 2024 Soho House Fellowship. He was a Norman Mailer Fiction Fellow, twice a recipient of the Willapa Bay AiR residency, and he will be a resident at the Blue Mountain Center from June-July of 2024. Rivera-Arias was a resident at The New Jersey Play Lab & Art House Production's INKubator Program in 2022-2023, where he developed his plays Come Rain, Come Hurricane and Stubbornness & Bone. In 2019 his play, In the Palace of the Planet King, was staged at The Wild Project as part of the Downtown Urban Arts Festival. His stories and poems have been published in The Evening Street Review, The Global City Review, Tupelo Quarterly, Monkeybicycle, Pank, Kweli, The Acentos Review & Another Chicago Magazine, among other publications. He received his BA from New Jersey City University and his MFA from The New School. He is a former member of the United Steelworkers (Local 4-406) and is currently a Writing & Literature Instructor at the School of Visual Arts in NYC.
