Tyler Christie is a director, producer, dramaturg and all around champion of new play development. Since completing the Bernard B. Jacobs internship in 2016, Tyler has returned to New Dramatists as the Acting Playwrights' Lab Manager and as a Stage Manager for over twenty extended workshops and three PlayTime Developmental Studios, before joining the full-time staff in January, 2020. He began his theater career in Chicago, earning a BA in Theater Direction from Columbia College Chicago, then going on to intern at the Tony-Award Winning Victory Gardens, where Artistic Director, Chay Yew, introduced him to New Dramatists. Additionally, Tyler has worked on the development of new plays with Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, The Lark, Page 73, The Flea, The Araca Group, The New Group, The PIT and Raven Theatre. He is a Co-founder of Slingshot Theater Company, where he produced The Playwright's Loft, a short play festival that ran from 2017-2018 in Battery Park. Outside of NY, Tyler has directed regionally for Seacoast Repertory Theatre, The Winnipesaukee Playhouse, Weathervane Theatre and Hillbarn Theater. He has been a Camp Director and Teaching Artist for Upside Arts Overnight Camp in Poland, Maine and an Artist-in-Residence at Natick High School in Massachusetts.
