Kara Lee Corthron’s plays include Welcome to Fear City (Kilroys’ List 2016, CATF 2017, Kansas City Rep 2018) Listen for the Light (Know Theatre of Cincinnati); AliceGraceAnon (New Georges); Holly Down in Heaven (Forum Theatre, DC); and What Are You Worth?. Kara is also the author of the young-adult novels The Truth of Right Now (Simon & Schuster/Simon Pulse) and Daughters of Jubilation coming in 2020.

Awards/Honors: The 2019 Otis Guernsey New Voices in the American Theater Award, the Parents’ Choice Gold Award for The Truth of Right Now, member of New Dramatists, 2018 Cultural Diaspora Residency at Camargo, Travis Bogard Artist in Residence Fellowship, 2014-2015 Naked Angels/New School Issues Project Resident Playwright, Boomerang Fund for Artists Grant, 2012-2014 Women’s Project Time Warner Fellowship, Vineyard Theatre’s 3rd Annual Paula Vogel Playwriting Award, the Princess Grace Award, two NEA grants, the Helen Merrill Award, Lincoln Center’s Lecomte du Nouy Prize (three-time recipient), the Theodore Ward Prize, the New Professional Theatre Writers Award, four MacDowell fellowships, residencies at Skriðuklaustur (Iceland), Boliasco (Italy), Hawthornden (Scotland), Djerassi, the Millay Colony, and Ledig House.

Kara currently writes for the Netflix drama/thriller YOU and a new thriller called THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT (HBO Max).
