Based on the real life case of Joshua Lewis Berg, an actor that Bromley worked with in the 90s, Syndrome is a play that tells the simple story of one man alone in his apartment contemplating the horror of going to dinner and a show with his parents. Yet he is not entirely alone, as his Syndrome is also in the room. As the man recounts his life with Tourette, Syndrome interjects himself again and again until the final battle for freedom. The result is a profound glimpse into the cognitions, emotions, fascinations, memories, obsessions and tic storms that can beset the so possessed.
