New Dramatists, a Tony Award recipient and the nation’s longest running community of playwrights, announces that Connie Hall has re-joined the staff in the role of Artistic Programs Producer. Connie worked for the organization in the capacity of Grants Administrator from 2009-2012. The new position will support Artistic Director Emily Morse in her vision to expand the range of conversations, collaborations, and creative processes explored by playwrights at New Dramatists. Connie will facilitate the admissions process, produce extended workshops, and strengthen communications among and on behalf of 50 resident writers.

As a performer, producer and veteran “downtown” theater-maker, Connie has helped to create and mount over 25 new works for the stage in New York and abroad. In 2006, along with a group of fellow performers, Connie founded Conni’s Avant Garde Restaurant (2012 NY Innovative Theater Awards for Outstanding Ensemble and Performance Art Production), a company that engages the audience through inventive theatrical forms such as pop-up restaurant, walking tour, and secret social club. As the company’s Producing Director and head cook, Connie served thousands of audience members in New York, Boston, Nashville, Louisville and Cleveland. As co-producer of the July 2012 international undergroundzero festival along with Paul Bargetto, she presented new work by 28 artists and companies and hosted events to facilitate artistic exchange and community building.

Prior to joining New Dramatists, Connie was the Manager of Institutional Giving at Theatre Development Fund and a Development Associate at Theatre Communications Group. She holds an MFA in Acting from Columbia University.
