Creativity Fund: Tarell Alvin McCraney

Apr 23 2012 - 10:00am -- Apr 27 2012 - 6:00pm

Antony and Cleopatra by William Shakespeare, radically edited by Tarell Alvin McCraney

One of Tarell’s duties as playwright-in-residence at the Royal Shakespeare Company was to take existing Shakespeare folios and quartos and help, depending on the production, give the script shape through edits. One such case was when he was asked to do a “radical edit of Antony and Cleopatra.” In hopes of producing this radical edit and working on many more, he’s organizing a workshop to see if his bold changes leave Shakespeare's beautiful war torn love affair intact.

This edit was commissioned by the Royal Shakespeare Company and supported by New Dramatists.

Creativity Fund offers playwrights the opportunity to workshop new plays or musicals for up to five days.
