We wish to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful people who made our first ever digital version of Nocturnal Commissions a rousing success!  We had fourteen adventurous commissioners who signed up before they even knew who was writing:  Isobel Konecky, who was also our lead sponsor; Charlotte and David Ackert, who were also tech sponsors alongside Janet Cohn Slosberg; Susan Kraus; Abbie Van Nostrand; Willy Holtzman and Sylvia Shepard; Jenny Hellman; Tarell Alvin McCraney; Linda Healy; Robin Lynn and Larry Blumberg & Rita and Wolf Jakobowski.  In addition, Jill Hunter Matichak supported the event as our Artist Sponsor, and Thomas Kasulka, Margaret Monigan and Signature Bank were our Corporate Sponsors.  Nine bold and brilliantly talented playwrights said yes to being commissioned and the insane task of writing plays in 30 minutes: Jennifer Haley, Madhuri Shekar, MJ Kaufman, Mike Lew, Aditi Brennan Kapil, Mfoniso Udofia, David Adjmi, Octavio Solis and Will Arbery. Three fearless directors – Jade King Carroll, Scott Illingworth, Arpita Mukherjee -- directed a luminous company of actors including Jess Barbagallo, Quincy Tyler Bernstine, Cindy Cheung, Shannon DeVido, Armando Durán, Peter Friedman, Jessica Hecht,  Marin Ireland, Matthew S. Joffe, Sue Jean Kim, Zonya Love, Alfredo Narciso, Maryann Plunkett, Hubert Point-Du Jour, Jay O. Sanders, Peggy J. Scott and Sathya Sridharan. We had the great good fortune of having Nancy Giles return for her 16th Nocturnal Commissions as the mistress of ceremonies; MidAtlantic Event Group (MAEG) and ND Finance Director, Christie Brown produced the live streamed event; Thomas Dziuba (writer) and Michael Muller (illustrator) lent their talents to creating a Nocturnal Commissions marketing comic; Mark Sanders, our web designer, created the web page to stream the presentation, and of course, our cracker jack staff – Tiffany Baran, Christie Brown, Naveen Choudhury, Tyler Christie, Emily Morse, Ron Riley, Joel Ruark, John Steber and Sofie Wasserman-Smith invested the thought and ingenuity into shifting the event to a virtual platform – what a bunch of pros!

We are grateful for the beautiful, beautiful work that took place over the course of the four days of Nocturnal Commissions and culminating in what we all witnessed on Thursday, October 29 during the livestreamed Nocturnal Commissions. Each play was truly exquisite, and perfect unto itself, the acting and direction were out of this world, and Nancy Giles was, as she always is, masterful at moving the event along with warmth and wit.  The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and we surpassed our goal with 156 gifts; 156 households comprised our viewing audience!  While we all wish we were together at the old church, this digital platform granted us the opportunity to extend the writing pool to reflect our national reach. We had writers based in LA, Oregon, New Jersey, and from multiple boroughs of New York City, performed by actors from all over the country and in Canada AND we were able to expand our audience beyond the limits of our building capacity bringing together many people from far and wide.

Special thanks goes out to all the amazing people, past and present, including staff, the board of directors, and the writers who created this event and have kept it going; and to all the many theatre artists who have donated their time and talent to this event and who make it magical!

Thank you for the tremendous support and for the generosity of this community.
