A multiplex movie theater somewhere in America, on any given night, showing any given Hollywood film. In attendance: a solitary man holding too many snacks, an unhappily married couple, two high school “dudes,” co-opting hip hop culture, a pair of cynical office co-workers, and a gothically dressed girl who is also possessed by a vengeful God. As showtime approaches, lives unravel. Crises erupt all over the theater until strangely, magically, something brings them together. Multiplex is a comedy about loneliness and a morality tale showing why movies should always start on schedule.
