DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

New Dramatists seeks a full-time arts administrator interested in advocating for playwrights and playwriting, via raising funds, support, and awareness.

The Development Manager will join our team of eight veteran arts professionals, and will focus on connecting people to our playwrights, and encouraging their support of our mission. Reporting to and working alongside the Development Director, the Development Manager is a full-time position. The role will include the following:

• Helping the organization raise money by identifying and cultivating people interested in supporting New Dramatists and our 50+ resident playwrights and fellows.
• Managing our CRM database to ensure accurate recording of information—including gifts, communications, and event attendance.
• Alongside the Development Director, Executive Director, and Artistic Director, devising, organizing, and launching two annual donation campaigns.
• Processing and acknowledging donor gifts to New Dramatists.
• Assistance in planning, executing, and sales for fundraising and program events.
• An interest in grant writing and reporting to foundations, corporations, and government funding sources.
• Leading the recruitment process for a class of interns three times each year.
• Cooperatively managing New Dramatists’ day-to-day administration and facilities, with the full ND staff, to foster a kind, creative environment for our writers, their collaborating artists, and our audience and visitors.
• Staffing ND’s building for occasional weekend and evening hours in support of special events and our resident playwrights’ artistic activity.

In addition to an interest in pursuing a career in fundraising, applicants should have:
• A minimum of two years’ experience in arts administration or fundraising is strongly preferred. A background in a customer service or sales oriented field is required.
• Excellent communication skills and writing ability are essential. Prior experience working with a wide variety of people is critical.
• Interest in a career in non-profit arts fundraising.
• A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year university or college is strongly preferred.
• Other requirements include outstanding organizational skills and judgement, the ability to self-start, learn quickly, meet deadlines, and adapt priorities as needed to meet team needs.
• Extensive experience with MS Office suite required. Proficiency with databases (Salesforce and/or PatronManager, in particular) is a plus.

Annual salary is $38,000.
