“Where you go, I will go…” This contemporary reimagining of The Book of Ruth explores the ongoing debate on Immigration. Naomi (a Lieutenant stationed near Kabul) and Anisah (her Afghan translator) reel from the loss of their husbands in Afghanistan. Naomi is discharged and prepares to come home, when Anisah—fearing for her own safety—asks Naomi to bring her home with her. This simple leap of faith lands Anisah in the fictional town of Broxton, Mississippi, where the town struggles to deal with her arrival. Surprisingly funny and deeply moving, In The Book Of contemplates the redemptive power in embracing the other.
