After Seven Festival

Jun 25 2014 (All day) -- Jun 27 2014 (All day)

AFTER SEVEN, the annual festival celebrating the playwrights finishing their seven-year residencies: Eugenie Chan, Sarah Hammond, Taylor Mac, Carlos Murillo, Julie Marie Myatt, J.T. Rogers, Deborah Stein, and John Walch. Since arriving in 2007, this brilliantly talented group has forged a cohesive “class” identity through annual group meetings to share works-in-progress. This shared bond is the basis for the program that is After Seven this year.

Designed in collaboration with each other, and Lab Director, John Steber, on Wednesday, June 25 at 3 pm, the writers will present excerpts of material written during their first years at New Dramatists. On Thursday, June 26 at 7 pm, they will showcase selections of plays finished in the past three years, and on Friday, June 27 at 3pm, playwrights will share fragments of current plays-in-progress.

On Wednesday, June 25, prior to the presentation, J.T. Rogers will receive the In The Spirit of America Award, and Todd London will pay tribute to these wonderful writers on Friday, June 27.

A reception will follow each presentation.

Open readings—Reservations required please call (212) 757-6960.

This Festival is made possible with the generous support of the Friendship Ambassadors Foundation, in memory of Barbara Barondess Maclean.
