Jenny Schwartz will work with director Annie Kauffman on her new play Somewhere Fun.

The work begun at New Dramatists will continue for a second week at Playwrights Horizons for a week of SuperLab, a developmental program they co-produce with Clubbed Thumb. There will be an invited reading on Friday, February 10 at 4pm at Playwrights Horizons

Come learn the fool proof, no nonsense (well, a little), kid-tested/mother approved, undefeated, hypoallergenic METHOD.  David Wiener will teach you how to begin a play (without an idea), plot a play (without a story), and write every day (without needing an ounce of that elusive "inspiration").

Lying in wait with a shotgun, Gus, an unemployed elevator repairman, keeps his neighbors and his wife in the crosshairs. Next door lives an actress—a Marilyn Monroe look-alike—held captive by Daddy, a universal terrorist on the run. And in the next apartment, the grandson of Harry Houdini struggles to free himself from his own chains. Release is on everyone's mind, but can anyone ever escape?

Pairing five New Dramatists playwrights with five composers from a variety of musical and stylistic backgrounds, this nearly round-the-clock workshop sparks early-stage collaborations. During the two-week studio, facilitated by Ben Krywosz and music director Roger Ames, an ensemble of five singer/actors support the participants as they develop overnight responses to five songwriting assignments.

New Dramatists will be closed on Monday, February 20, 2012 in observance of President's Day.
